Yes, you can attend two or more camps in a row. In fact, more and more students are doing it. A week passes very fast!
They really come from everywhere—sometimes it even surprises us! The vast majority come from Spain, both from the coast and the inland areas. During certain seasons, we have quite a few foreigners from Northern Europe, as well as students who have crossed the ocean to join us from the United States, Canada, Mexico…
If you are traveling by car, you should leave the camp between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.

A very high percentage of our students have never had any contact with surfing before. You will find that, except for the veterans and those coming to improve their skills, who work differently, the vast majority are in the same situation—it’s their first experience with surfing. Our method for beginners starts from scratch, and the goal is to enjoy the waves and lay the foundation of everything you need to know to enjoy surfing at other beaches. You just need to know how to swim and be willing to put in the effort to learn, always in a safe and fun way.
At Berria Beach, the bathing areas are clearly marked, and there are lifeguards from Civil Protection throughout the summer, monitoring the areas where we catch waves.
On the other hand, our instructor-to-student ratio allows for easy supervision of the group at all times. Outside of class hours, a supervised surf zone is designated, where an instructor will be ensuring the safety of the students.
All of our instructors are certified and have first aid knowledge. Students are insured from day one.
We always recommend that each of you make an individual reservation. This ensures that we have all your details. If you want to share a room, there is a very important question during the reservation process: Who would you like to share a room with? This is where you should write the full names of all the group members. And if you have the same surf level, you can even go to class together if you want!
The minimum age to stay at the camp is 10 years old. Last year, the average age was between 14 and 16 years for the surf camps for minors. For the adult surf camps, the ages range between 20 and 35 years.
The only essential requirement for classes is knowing how to swim.
The maximum age? That’s up to you. You’re only as old as you feel.

Both in the surf camps for minors and adults, we offer 2 surf classes per day: 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon.
In the weekend surf camps, we offer 1 surf class in the morning, and you’ll have the equipment available to you throughout the day. It all depends on your enthusiasm and how much your muscles can handle some even surf for 8 hours a day!
Of course, it’s always great to use the boards you’re most comfortable with and continue improving. At the Surf School, we have a lot of equipment in different sizes, so even if you bring your own gear, you can still try out other boards if you’d like.
If you find an adventure buddy, you’ll share the excitement and the journey, but many students come alone the first time. The following year, they often return with people they met at the camp and formed friendships with. Friendships that, in many cases, last a lifetime.
There is adult supervision 24 hours a day. At night, there are caretakers in charge of ensuring the camp’s safety. We have simple rules of coexistence and safety, and if they are broken, the student will be sent home at the expense of their guardians if they are a minor, without any right to a refund. We do not make exceptions here.
- DNI
- Social Security Card
- Private Health Insurance Card, if available
If you are a minor, don’t forget to bring the authorization we sent you by email, properly filled out and signed by parents/guardians. This is essential to begin the activity.
What should not be missing from your small suitcase?
- Sunscreen, flip-flops, beach towel, swimsuit or bikini
- Basic personal hygiene items (shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, body wash…)
- If you are on any medical treatment, don’t forget your medication.
- Sweatshirt, t-shirts, long pants (preferably sweatpants), and sports footwear. In Berria, the weather is usually mild with beach temperatures during the day, but it cools down at night, and summer storms can occur at any time, so it’s a good idea to also pack a light rain jacket.
- A bottle or thermos to keep water cool.
- We also recommend that campers bring their usual pain relief medication for menstrual discomfort or any other mild ailments, as we are unable to administer any medication without going through the nearby urgent care service.
Earplugs to prevent ear infections during surf sessions, especially for students who are prone to them.
We only use local products from the area, and our weekly menu consists of a balanced diet designed to support the effort you put in each day. You will enjoy two courses and dessert at both lunch and dinner, as well as a complete breakfast in the morning. Fresh fruit will also be available to you throughout the day. Our meals are prepared by our catering service, which offers homemade-style cuisine using fresh ingredients from Cantabria—a region renowned for its rich gastronomy.
